USA BMX National Series Shines in Morristown, Tennessee

Record turnout for 2012

The 2012 USA BMX National season continued its series in Morristown, Tennessee for the

sport of BMX Racing. The fourth of 29 stops of the United States series took place at the Great Smoky Mountains Expo  Center. This marked the first time USA BMX was in Morristown.  This years’ event was unique in the fact that it was the first event offered under the USA BMX banner. USA BMX is the combination of both ABA and NBL sanctioning bodies; which came to fruition last summer when the ABA (American Bicycle Association) bought the assets of the NBL (National Bicycle League) before the Ohio-based non-profit sanction dissolved.  Now, with a combined membership of over 70,000 active competitors, Morristown is a forecast of things to come.
With 1,403 unique participants, drawing in more than 5,500 spectators on each of the 3-days of racing, this USA BMX Volunteer Nationals event was a great indicator of how the sport has grown.  With incredible racing action featuring racers from 45 states, Morristown saw many new faces beginning their pursuit of the USA BMX National titles in eight unique categories. In addition to the great racing action, Justin Posey was on hand to sign a letter of intent to race BMX for Marian University in Indianapolis.  USA BMX’s 2012 season promises to have some of the most highly contested battles in recent history and the competition in Morristown did not disappoint. With 25 stops left in the United States, the 2012 U.S. Olympic BMX Trials, the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and a record start through the first four races, BMX racing is alive and well in 2012.
