PEPSICO AND FEED THE CHILDREN PARTNER TO HELP 1,200 FAMILIES in Washington D.C. WITH FOOD AND ESSENTIALS
WHAT: PepsiCo and Feed The Children have partnered with Central Union Mission to bring three tractor-trailers filled with enough food to help 1,200 Washington D.C. area families. Nearly one in three children in Washington D.C. (29.1% percent) is at risk of hunger.
Volunteers will distribute 25-pound boxes of food along with products donated by PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay, Quaker and Pepsi divisions, as well as Walmart and Bimbo Bakeries, to families who present a voucher onsite during the event. The boxes are designed to help a family of four for up to one week. Central Union Mission has already identified families that will receive assistance.
VISUALS: Volunteers from Feed The Children, PepsiCo, and Wal-Mart will be providing food, essentials and PepsiCo snacks and beverages to Washington D.C. area families in need.

BACKGROUND: The distribution is the latest stop this year on Feed The Children’s Americans Feeding Americans Caravan. Including this event, the caravan has helped hundreds of thousands across the country since 2009 in cities that have been affected by the nation’s economic downturn. PepsiCo is a longtime supporter of Feed The Children.
